What is the Babyverse?

The Babyverse aka The Pride and the Scourge is an alternate universe written in the Buffy, the Vampire Slayer and Angel, the Series fandoms. It was created by Ebony Silvers when Baby (who she unashamedly admits is her marysue) stepped into Sunnydale and changed everything for Spike, Angel, Cordy, Wes, Dru, the City of Los Angeles and the state of Louisiana ... not to mention us. All praise to Joss Whedon for creating all things Buffy (no copyright infringement is intended in the borrowing of his characters and stories).

Summary

January 2002 - An unnamed fan of the television series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" stepped through a portal into a dimension where the series was real and with that simple action a new world split from the old. The world spawned from the brilliant mind of Joss Whedon was twisted, tilted, and spun into something new, something darker, something more violent. It's the world inhabited by the Pride and the Scourge. We call it the BabyVerse.

It's Sunnydale, California, 1998. A freak magical accident gave Spike knowledge and memories of what would happen in the next four years, all the pain, all the misery, all the mistakes. It also gave him all of the memories of a fan of Whedon's creations and gave her all of his. It was a unique experience, suddenly knowing another person so intimately. Mind altering. Potentially life changing. But things wouldn't have changed so drastically had it not been for Angelus. Angelus attacked the woman, the one Spike considered it his responsibility to protect. Spike saved her life and her sanity. But his own life was still a wreck. His love, his Slayer, no longer existed. She'd been replaced with a seventeen-year-old girl in love with Angel. He could stay and watch their romance or he could leave. He chose to leave. And he chose not to leave alone. The woman who shared his memories had a life as empty and miserable as his own. All he could offer her was friendship and a new life; his heart belonged to Buffy. In return all she could offer was her company and her budding love and respect for him; she owned nothing, had nothing. Spike took her with him when he left Sunnydale looking for a way to forget his love for the Slayer. Together they built a new life, an empire, and a new world.

She never told anyone her name; Spike calls her Baby.

It's 2018 and welcome to their world.

It's a lovely, dark place where Dru and Wesley are soul mates, Wesley having found a darkness within himself to rival and compliment that within Drusilla. His passions and need to kill have driven him to the brink of damnation but he no longer cares what the world thinks or what the future holds. His very existence is focused on Drusilla's happiness and the search for her sanity. He'll use his ever-growing knowledge of magic and his incredible intellect to see that she never suffers a moment's unease again. Now a vampire himself, turned by his own wish on his 50th birthday, they'll spend eternity together prowling the night, Wesley's switchblade as deadly as Drusilla's fangs.

It's a place were Spike has finally realized his potential. He is Master of New Orleans and lord of half the Southeast, ruling an empire of Darkness. The vampires, demons, and criminals of the Big Easy follow his rules and pay him proper respect and tribute or there's Hell to pay. He rules with a stern hand and any who doubt that his word is law find existence short and painful. However, after his years helping Buffy, Spike wasn't comfortable returning entirely to Evil. Killing innocent people for food bothered him but he found his conscience didn't tweak him if he killed those who were preying on the rest of humanity. Murderers, rapists, and violent criminals became his food and his playthings; to William the Bloody and his Pride, they're simply lunch. He's finally found a place he's comfortable.

It’s a world where Angel has to accept his demon, has to accept what he is before he can discover who he is. He's finally accepted his demon enough to claim the title of Master of L.A. And he isn't fighting alone; his family has gathered to support him. Drusilla and Wesley, Spike and his family, all are there whenever their liege lord calls. But Angel's desire for mastery and his twisted lust for Spike's consort could destroy the new Scourge and end the alliance between the Master of Los Angeles and the Master of New Orleans. Angel and Cordelia found their love for each other and have raised Connor as their son. They seemed to have a lasting romance. Cordelia loved Angel enough to become a demon to help him but Angel wasn't made for monogamy and his needs and lusts could drive an immovable wedge between them. Faced with her husband's continuing infidelity, Cordelia can find comfort only in the arms of Spike's son, René, the man Angel hates above all others. And Connor, caught in the middle, has only Aunty Dru and Uncle Spike for refuge.

It's a reality where Spike's a loving husband. It took years and innumerable shared experiences but Baby and Spike finally found they loved each other even more than creating mayhem and violence. They're treading a fine line between Good and Evil. He's taught her to kill, to enjoy the chaos of the night, and she revels in it. He's remade her into the perfect consort for William the Bloody and destroyed what made him love her in the process. He's found a woman who loves him but he may still love his Slayer more than his wife. And she may love his son more than she loves Spike.

It's a place where Spike's fathered a vampire dynasty and begun a grand experiment with his children. Those innocents he finds who are on the brink of death from violence, those victims who won't survive, are offered a choice; meet Death or become vampires. Baby's convinced him that there's a different way to raise his children, their children. Instead of beatings and violent domination, they're taught with patience and love. They're bonded into a family. It's a risky experiment. Those who can't control the bloodlust, who can't find the deep sense of family that Spike demands, have to be put down. There is no halfway. You are either a part of the family or you're a dust. But it's produced a new sort of vampire, soulless but caring, predators who protect the innocent, demons that fight on the side of Good. It's produced the Redeemed, the fallen who have been reclaimed and are bound for Heaven.

It's a world where convoluted relationships and forbidden passions threaten Spike's empire, where insanity is merely a kiss away. For the eldest sons of William the Bloody, those passions could be devastating. Jean Claude's love for his brother threatens his love and loyalty for his father, sending the crown prince of Spike's kingdom on a quest for the meaning of redemption. Jean, a vampire more moral than most humans, goodness personified, is Spike's solid rock, his one constant in a world that often tries to destroy the Master vampire. If Jean falls, if his love of René pushes him to betray his father, the family may not survive it. René, physically beautiful beyond compare, Spike's lieutenant and champion, is the childe most like his sire and, like his father, he's plagued by emotions he can't always control. He's built his own kingdom; he's the Master of Mobile and Pensacola, but his passion for his Sire's wife could be deadly. His love for Baby may be both his salvation and his damnation. Surrendering to his need to be with her could devastate the family and destroy Spike. Baby's love for Spike is cosmic. It was once her entire reason for existing but time and circumstance have eroded the deep sense of oneness they had. Her desire for Angel may decimate her marriage, but it's her love and need for René that may destroy them all. Spike owns her soul but René owns her heart. It's a passion that can shatter lives and rock the foundations of an empire.

Spike and Baby decided to raise his children a different way and the world will never be the same. Learn what it means to live by "sex, blood, and rock-n-roll". Come, join them as they explore what it means to be vampires who fight for good while loving the darkness, what it means to be Consorts, what it means to be Childer, what it means to love and be loved, and what it means to be The Pride and The Scourge.
